LIFE IS LIKE A NAIL SALON BY MAGGIE MILLER
If you’ve ever had your nails done professionally, you know that choosing a color can be quite an experience. If you go into the salon wanting ‘red’, well, good news -- there will be 56 different shades of red for you to choose from. To help make your decision a little bit easier, nail polish companies have given each color fun and unique names, like ‘Taupe-less and Barefoot’, ‘Lincoln Park After Dark’, or ‘Don’t Bossa-Nova Me Around.’
Although the name of your nail polish may not seem like a serious matter, I think it reminds us of two life lessons we could all practice more of:
1. Choose What Makes You Smile
When two nail polishes look seemingly identical, their names could be the deciding factor. You could choose to play it safe with a classic, ‘Candy Apple Red,’ or you may feel emboldened to choose ‘Hot Mama.’ Listen to what speaks to you, and choose what makes you smile. You’ll never regret a decision if it means something to you.
2. Creativity Makes You Memorable
The creative names behind each polish color is what makes them memorable. I would never remember ‘Red #288’, but I’ll never forget ‘Cajun Shrimp’. When all things appear the same, let your creativity set you apart.
Life is like a nail salon. Don’t settle for ‘red’. Stand out, and do it with a smile.
