LEAP OF FAITH BY MARIE PERNECKY

LEAP OF FAITH BY MARIE PERNECKY

A leap of faith is an act of believing in or attempting something whose existence or outcome cannot be proved.

Leaving Los Angeles for Oxford was my leap of faith.

“Where are you from?” is one of the most common questions we get asked as college students. To which I usually get the reply, “So why are you here?” And to this, I have no answer.

However, after two years in Oxford, I have began to realize how I got here.

I got here because of the person that I was and the person that I aspired to be. The person to make my own decisions, to take risks, and to learn from my mistakes. I have failed many times while attending Miami, but I can proudly sit here today and say I don’t know why I’m here, but I know how I still am.

When you take a leap of faith, you attempt something in the hope that it works out. When you realize you were right, you are able to look back and think, I don’t know why I did that, but I know how it worked.

Next time you get asked why, don’t look back at your past self. Look at yourself now, and think about how.
