THE FORGOTTEN JOURNEY BY MATT REINIGER
I’m in the midst of an identity crisis – but it’s different. I know that I’m an artist – a musician – but it’s not enough for me. I’ve found myself, but it has only created more problems.
I’m lost. Unmotivated. Stale. Uninspired.
I know I want to make music, but I have no idea where to start.
As I’m currently in this “creative rut,” feeling uninspired and stagnant, I must do something. I must be the opposite of stagnant. I must move. I must go on a second journey of self-awareness.
Journey 1 – What is my identity?
Musician.
Journey 2 – How is my identity different from everyone else’s?
What is my unique creative brand as a musician? How can I be different? What is my sound?
To answer these questions, I must take a different approach to writing music. I must go on a journey to watch the best musicians in action and in their element. I must watch them so closely I can see their passion rocketing out of their souls.
This is the forgotten journey…the journey after the journey. Every art, profession, and vocation has a million people who have found their calling, but they’re not going anywhere. The people who make it are the voyagers – the ones who go on this second journey to find the most unique form of themselves.
Through my forgotten journey, I intend to find my most effective stimuli.
By doing this, I will find an answer to escape the staleness. By doing this, I will find my sound. By doing this, you will see my passion rocket out of my soul.
