STEALING IS ART BY ALI HACKMAN

Being original is something that we are pressed with every day. Especially being in an artistic field, we are demanded to come up with fresh new ideas on the spot that no one has ever seen before. Usually when I am presented with a task like this, an artistic block happens immediately. I am terrified that I won’t be able to come up with anything and end up staring at a blank canvas for hours until I find the courage to place my pencil on the paper. After reading “Steal Like an Artist”, my perception of this demand has changed. This book opened my eyes to the idea of reinvention. Everything has been done before, but it is our job as artists to find a way to make it new and make it our own. That is what art is.
