LAW OF INERTIA BY ADAM SHADI
If you’ve taken a physics course, you have probably heard of Newton’s first law, the Law of Inertia. It states that an object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion. While this is considered a law of physics, I believe that this law applies to different aspects of life.
Last semester I partied and went out to the bars a lot. I didn’t have class till 1 P.M. every day, and I felt that I was able to do the bare minimum in my classes and get by with at least an A or a B. I ended up doing alright in my classes but I was super unproductive. Without some other force acting upon my lifestyle I continued to do the same thing every day, partying. Thus, my partying lifestyle being an object in motion that stayed in motion.
This semester I decided to add a force acting upon my lifestyle, in order to change it. I decided to change my lifestyle and make it more productive, and so far it is working. I started by not planning my night around going out to the bars, and rather planning my night around finishing school work, and what other projects I am working on. Interesting enough, this semester I do not have a lot of desire to go out to the bars, and rather like working on my projects, and completing my school work. By adding a force to change my previous lifestyle, I have gotten rid of the desire to go out to the bars. Thus, turning my partying lifestyle that stayed in motion, to an object of rest that stays at rest.
