TM: STRESS REDUCTION, FOCUS AND CREATIVITY BY WILL ROSENFELD
This past January, I started practicing Transcendental Meditation, or TM. TM is done for twenty minutes, twice a day with the eyes closed, sitting comfortably in a chair.
It allows the body and mind to experience a state of rest much deeper than sleep by re-connecting the neurons in the brain that go offline due to everyday stress.
The reason I am writing about TM is because, as we have learned in class, stress and fatigue are two factors that hinder creativity.
Since practicing TM, I have experienced less stress, more energy and focus than ever before, and been able to better use the tools we have learned in ESP 351. Although meditating twice a day is a hard habit to maintain in college, I recommend it to anyone who feels overwhelmed by the pressures of school or finding a job. I would be glad to talk more about it with anyone who is interested.
For anyone who may be interested, here is a video of Jerry Seinfeld explaining the effects of TM on his life and how it has helped his energy, focus, and creativity: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IeRdy6LrOAI
