PASSION DRIVES CREATIVITY BY KATELIN MORGAN
I have always struggled with creativity.
I have doubted and second guessed myself for putting so much effort into a project or situation. I hate myself for scratching something completely and starting over (I even did it for this assignment). Why would I spend so much time on something that would produce the same result or reaction from others than if I took the easy way out? That guy next to me didn’t put half as much thought into the meaning behind his project, but the teacher liked it more
Slowly something clicked. Why was I looking at what other people did and their results if I was going to do it my own way anyways? If I want to spend days on a project that I could finish in hours that was a good thing. It meant I had a passion. There was a drive inside me to make the best idea I could make and I wouldn’t stop until I found the right one (or there was a deadline, whichever came first).
My creativity and my process shines through with my passion. Without passion, why be creative? If you don’t love what you’re doing, of course you’ll take the easy way out and skip the creative process. But if you have a passion, watch out. Be prepared to overthink, over-analyze, redo, restart, get frustrated, be proud, be humbled, and be creative. It all comes with the process, whatever yours is.
You are creative, and you can’t escape it.
