LACING UP CREATIVITY: ONE STEP AT A TIME BY DOMINIC PERRONE

For me, creativity is a way of expressing yourself to the cosmos. Showing others how you make a statement through designs, colors, patterns and art.

One source of such expression is what we choose to wear because it is a way of exhibiting who we are in a particular way. For myself, this medium comes in the form of shoes.

From nike shoes to sperrys, I reveal to the world who I am through what is on my feet. Even though I am not the one designing the shoes’ structure and technology I still have a choice of what I walk around in everyday.

One example of how I express myself with footwear is wearing the color white, when I am in a cheerful mood. I feel white represents this mood best because of its pureness and light.

Another example is my green nike soccer cleats, which are important to me because they hold an enjoyable memory of a state championship win.

Creativity drives me to stand out among the crowd; it gives me a sense of uniqueness. Shoes can allow a somewhat conservative person, like myself, to display my passions and pleasures. Shoes give me an outlet to stand out, or sometimes blend in, but they always allow me to be myself.
