FAITHFULLY CREATIVE BY KARAH KINNEY
“Everyone is creative”. We hear this phrase so often and it is true.
Let’s take it one step deeper. Why is everyone creative? Well, we understand that when we were little we asked so many questions. It was in our nature as children to create, to draw, to play. As children, the intrigue and curiosity flowed through us. Some may argue that being creative is our instinct for survival or maybe that it is the way that it is. I am going to take a different approach.
We are all creative because of the creator who created us.
Whoa, did she just bring religion into this conversation? Yes.
See, it is impossible for me to talk about creativity without considering the God who created me. For clarity, I am a believing Christian. This is the central most thing that drives my creativity.
For me, the concept of creating is similar to faith. Hebrews 11:1 says that, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” When we are creating, we are working towards something that cannot be seen yet. Faith and creativity both demand stepping out into the unknown and ambiguity, in hope that what we hope for, will actually happen.
I am creative in surrendering to the process. I have surrendered to Christ and the process and plan that he has for me in my life. This surrender gives me the freedom to explore my creativity. I am in pursuit of a faithful and creative life.
