CLAIRE’S FRENCH BRAID BEAUTY BAR BY CLAIRE CASASANTA
This month, I have been learning how to live with limited limbs. On a roller blading bonding trip gone wrong, I got too confident in my skating abilities and had a cartoonish, heals-over-head fall that resulted in a radial head fracture on my right elbow.
Side note: would not recommend visiting “Skating on Main” in Hamilton, OH, especially not on “Teen Night.”
I’m right handed, of course, because that’s just my luck, so my current situation is forcing me to figure out creative ways to complete tasks that I would normally be able to do just fine. Like my hair, for instance…
This may seem vain, but I’m physically incapable of doing my makeup, so making sure my hair looks presentable/I don’t look homeless, is a major concern for me. But, with my fractured elbow, it doesn’t move in the up and over way that I need it to in order to create a simple pony tail.
So, I began texting all of my friends, asking if they could come over to my house before class and french braid my hair. This is what I now call “Claire’s French Braid Beauty Bar.”
I provide refreshments and endless love to those that are willing to lend me a hand, or an elbow in this case.
