TAKE THE LONG ROUTE BY JESSE ESPOSITO

TAKE THE LONG ROUTE BY JESSE ESPOSITO

To me the word “Creativity” is a call to action.  Many people believe creativity and creative thinking regard only those decisions that have substantial impact. I contend that perspective in that my personal creative mindset is something that is present throughout most of my daily decisions.

The motive that drives my creativity is seeking efficiency through creative disruption. For instance, not searching for breakthrough solutions to exponential problems, but rather slightly innovating readily provided solutions to everyday tasks.  Efficiency is the most influential objective in my own creative mindset.

Consider your walking route to class the first week of fall semester.  A basic understanding of Miami’s grid-system would give you a good estimate of what the quickest route to class is.  However, in my experience, regardless of what I think the most efficient route may be, I disrupt that assumption.  I continually take alternate routes to class insight of discovering the most efficient.  This may result in several failures, but encourages long-term innovation and efficiency.

Efficiency is not only measured by the route that requires the least amount of steps.  It also includes factors such as time spent at intersections, peak traffic hours, and familiar people walking in the same or opposite direction.  I will personally always take the longest anticipated or least efficient route at one time or another just to eliminate that “solution” as being THE solution.

Availability is no excuse for lack of creativity.  I encourage you all to self-experiment and cause creative disruption in medial tasks throughout your daily routine.
