A WORK IN PROGRESS BY LAUREN TULLIS

A WORK IN PROGRESS BY LAUREN TULLIS

I am a big fan of quotes. Reading one quote can turn around my whole day. And sometimes, when you find a really good one, that quote can change your life.

This semester has not been going as smoothly as I had hoped…busier than ever, taking very challenging classes, and still being jobless do not make for the best combination. Despite this ongoing battle with myself, I am constantly learning from my experiences and trying to persevere.

Just a few weeks ago, during a particularly rough week, I was being extremely hard on myself. As I was doing my daily scroll through Pinterest, I stumbled upon the quote “Always be a work in progress.”

I stopped. Immediately. I read the quote 15 times. Saved it to my photos. Changed my Instagram bio to that quote. I tried to think of every possible way I could add this quote to my life, and make it a daily reminder to me: that I really will always be a work in progress. I will never be perfect, and that’s that.

I will never not be a work in progress, just like creativity. Creativity means an idea never stops, it could always be better, and there is more room to grow. There is always more to do, always more to see, and always more to learn. Some of us may struggle with creativity, but we are all more alike than we think…you, me, and our creativity are all just works in progress.
