THINKING LONGER THAN AN “INSTA”NT BEFORE ‘GRAMMING’ BY JORDAN WIRTH

THINKING LONGER THAN AN “INSTA”NT BEFORE ‘GRAMMING’ BY JORDAN WIRTH

The average Instagram post is not what most people would call  “creative”.  We’ve probably all seen hundreds of pictures featuring two girls with their hands on their hips with captions like “love her!” or “what would I do without you?” After being away at school I’ve tried to be more creative with my posts. Going to school out of state, most of my family is about 250 miles away, and some of my best friends are even further than that. Social media is a great way to keep the people you care about updated on your life.  Rather than just posting boring pictures with average captions, it is often a goal of mine to make my friends and family laugh, or at least smile when they see my posts. This takes creativity. If I know a specific event is coming up that I will probably be posting a picture from, I will start brainstorming captions days in advance to make sure I come up with something funny or creative. If I see an opportunity to take a silly or different picture, I take it. For example, on my way down to Oxford to move in this year I saw a cow statue on the side of the road and made my parents pull over to take a picture of me sitting on it.  I try to be creative with my social media posts to remind my loved ones how funny I am and make them miss me even more!
