HOW I GOT FREE MCDONALD’S BY EDWARD KRULEWITCH
Thinking creatively will always lead to unexpected opportunities. This is precisely what happened on the cold Tuesday night before Thanksgiving break. Miami University had the chance to be the first college football team to ever start a season 0-6 and end it 6-6.
What started out as a joke between myself and a fellow ESP classmate, #11 DE Austin Gearing, turned into a college experience I doubt I will ever forget. In attempt to silence my VOJ, I came up with the idea of getting friends of mine to paint our chests “BOWL BOUND!” for the game.
What is most important to me about creativity is the ability to make something your own. Not only did I get the chance to support Austin and the football team, but the “Bowl Bound!” crew got on ESPN3, and Miami instagrammed a picture and provided us with Free Extra Value Meal coupons to McDonald’s for our dedicated cheering. I’d like to believe that being there and leading the student section cheers throughout the game contributed to our 4th quarter comeback win, but more importantly I recognize that what actually happened that night was different than what I expected. Sometimes an opportunity won’t present itself until you least expect it to. Go out and do something crazy, who knows you might just get Free McDonald’s.
