CREATIVITY IS MY THERAPY BY KELLY DIXON
Creativity as a therapy. Not just drawing pictures and painting in the lines as a form of blowing off steam, but using creativity to find the core of what is going on and finding ways that you’ve never thought of for fixing the issues. Creativity is a therapy that you can learn how use, doesn’t cost you a penny, and you can carry with you whenever and wherever. Who ever thought, “Oh, I want to ideate on why I am really crying right now?” or “Wow. I should definitely brainstorm with post it notes what is really going on inside that is causing all of this anxiety!” This is what I decided to do for my C4 and, I am not lying when I say, it truly changed the way that I approach issues going on in my life. Using creativity to find what is going on in the core of your mind makes you find new things about yourself and answers that you never really thought were in there. There is a new sense of being self-aware and find out what you thought was going on with you is not actually the problem that is really happening.
Do those 100 questions that are all about yourself.
Keep asking yourself why until you cannot possibly think of another reason.
Brainstorm for fluency on ways that you could improve yourself. That is where you find the good stuff.
Get feedback from the people you trust. They know you almost as well as you know yourself.
Give yourself a break. Take a walk. Get outside. Pet a dog!
Make sure you have your ideal press, especially when you’re getting into what is in your heart.
Find productive ways of helping yourself. Don’t tear yourself down.
Most of all, learn to love yourself but getting to know the ins and outs of everything about yourself.
I learned to love myself using creativity as my therapy and I hope that you can too.
