START THINKING NOW BY ALLIE BLACKBURN

I’ve been watching my mom’s brain decay right in front of my eyes.

When thinking about life, I always thought about the future and what comes next, but what happens when you can’t think anymore? All of the dreams, plans, and thoughts that you saved for tomorrow are wasted.

She has taught me that in a world where you do not know the answers, there are so many ways to make your own. It’s weird how our relationship is closer than ever, and it has shifted my most important values to growth and family.

Her experience has taught me to take advantage of my cognitive thinking and ability to be creative NOW. This is the time to understand what my brain and I are capable of, and I cannot wait until another day to act on that.

I don’t know what tomorrow or the next sixty years holds for me, but I want to seize it while I have the ability to in this world full of ambiguity.
