THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK BY SAM CORRENTI

THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK BY SAM CORRENTI

I always grew up hearing the motto from my parents “Think before you speak Sam”. Something I have truthfully tried to live by my whole life. Before I raise my hand in class I think before I speak, before I answer an interview question, I think before I speak. Always assuring I spoke with a professional style while keeping an appropriate level of respect.

Now I am in my second year of having a co-major in entrepreneurship and I’ve finally come to believe that thinking before you speak might not be the best philosophy to live by when trying to come up with innovative ideas and products.

I’m not suggesting you don’t think before you speak when you are in a classroom setting or a job interview. But instead, I am suggesting you do ignore the motto of thinking before you speak when you are trying to come up with innovative ideas and products.

Sometimes the best ideas come from just letting your brain flow and the words pour from your mouth. Instead of using your voice of judgement that might stop you from saying something, just say it. Creation and innovation is about coming up with radical unknown ideas that can shock the world. Those radical ideas can be simplified and worked on once accepted but when creating and innovating to positively change the world, let your brain and words flow.
