PIVOTS TO THE EXTRAORDINARY BY DIANA CHUDNOVSKY
At first glance, my life (pigtails and all) always looked rather plain and predictable. That was true, until my best friend’s life was taken 3 years ago.
This experience taught me the basics; tomorrow is never guaranteed, we learn most about ourselves from our darkest moments, and even that those we hold close can hurt us in the most unimaginable ways. What I did not expect to learn is just how much we as people and our decisions affect those that we encounter in it.
We are remembered not by our GPA, our failures, or even our successes. Our lives are measured by the moments in which we change its course, and therefore the course of others; our biggest pivots.
That is why we need to be creative. We need to learn how to live not by the narrow roads presented to us, but by the paths we forge on our own. These new paths lead us to the people that shape us, and allow us to do the same for them.
Now, I believe that through making the easy or comfortable decisions, we stay stagnant, and even worse, we risk becoming truly ordinary. To be remembered, we need to be extraordinary. Set yourself apart from the pack, lay your fear of failure to rest, and change the course of your own life along with those around you to make a real difference in yourself and in the world.
